Dark Souls: Design Works

Dark Souls is probably my top most favourite role playing game ever. But this is not your typical rpg game that you'd normally run in, hack and slashing your way through everything because you will DIE...HARD. It's a type of gameplay that you have to think about your actions and surroundings carefully as you would in real life dangers except you won't be facing dragons or skeleton undeads. There's also a great deal of lore involved in the storyline but is open to player's interpretations.

As I am currently practicing character design, I think clothing, armours, accessories, etc is one of the important materials to study. The personality of the character you're designing should also reflect on what they wear, this way they'll be remembered like an actual living person.

Of course you can't miss out on the weapons design too whether it's medieval swords or guns. What's fascinating about the weapons in this game is that each of them also have a lore behind them, some are acquired in a specific way. Each swords are very distinct and differs from one another, also adding a bit of 'character' to their aestethic designs.

In the universe of Dark Souls, the scenery design is very medieval with a twist of mythology and legendary creatures. As the game title suggests, the world is very dark, full of mysteries, most of the NPCs in-game have a rather tragic background in their lives or ending.

The world designs has captured these essences, down to the little nook and cranny detail. It's essential to think about these points when designing sceneries or world materials.
