Saatchi Gallery
The Saatchi Gallery aims to provide an innovative forum for contemporary art, presenting work by largely unseen young artists or by international artists whose work has been rarely or never exhibited in the UK.
The audience for exhibitions of contemporary art has increased widely during the recent years as general awareness and interest in contemporary art has developed both in Britain and abroad.
Many artists showing at The Saatchi Gallery are unknown when first exhibited, not only to the general public but also to the commercial art world. Many of these artists are subsequently offered shows by galleries and museums internationally. In this effect, the gallery also operates as a springboard for young artists to launch their careers.

Jorge Mayet
De Mis Vivos y Mis Muertos, 2008
Electrical wire, paper, acrylics
143 x 84 x 84 cm
Mayet's practice revolves around small-scale sculptural installation, and miniaturised replicas of imaginary trees, plants and other natural objects. The artist's vision of the trees is such that their roots remain intact. Made with electrical wire, paper, acrylic paint and fabric, which are combined to create realistic qualities, the objects display three-dimensional realism.

This is the sketch I did while admiring Entre Dos Aguas on the left. First started with pencil for a rough sketch then used fine liner pens accentuate the detail of the roots.
Hermès Wanderland

“Flânerie, that wonderfully liberating art of urban wandering, is second nature to Hermès, one could even say our most profound nature”, recounts Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the house’s Artistic Director and sixth generation member, evoking the 2015 Hermès theme.
Set designer Hubert le Gall plunges visitors, the flâneurs themselves, into a dream world of joy and fantasy, with a Paris-inspired landscape as its backdrop. The eleven rooms present a series of installations in various media, created by a diverse selection of artists. From the Parisian square, to the covered passage, or a cafe of forgotten objects this veritable extended cabinet of curiosities will delight and intrigue visitors, inviting each of them to open their eyes, free their minds and be enveloped by the colour, sounds and images that surround them.

Objects on display have been carefully and lovingly gathered from the Hermès archive, the museum collection of Emile Hermès at 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris and Hermès’ contemporary collections: a bike, a bag, a pair of boots, a travel writing case, a card deck, a watch from the house’s collection… The spirit of the 'Flâneur' is at the heart of Hermès' creations and its inspiration.

This exhibition has been the highlight of my visit to Saatchi Gallery. It has been a wonderful experience and one of a kind. Since I'm gonna be doing a collaboration with fellow fine art student Dora Apostolou, this was more than perfect for inspiration to the Alice in Wonderland theme that's going to be a part of our work.
